I’m Still Learning to Rest
I can teach about Sabbath. Actually practicing it? That's a different story.
As we continue through Luke, we come to Jesus' encounters with the religious leaders over the Sabbath—and instead of approaching this passage as someone who has rest figured out, I'm coming to it as someone who doesn't.
I'm a pastor. I love serving people. I love ministry. And I also know what it feels like to be exhausted, overwhelmed, and still convinced there's one more thing that needs to get done.
In this episode, we look at what Jesus teaches us about Sabbath and why rest was never intended to become another religious rule we have to get right. Sabbath is a gift. It's an invitation to stop, trust God, and remember that the world keeps turning even when we aren't the ones holding it together.
This isn't a message from someone who has mastered Sabbath. It's a "me too" conversation from someone learning that following Jesus also means learning when to stop.

If Peter Had Known
When Jesus called Peter, Peter didn't hesitate. After witnessing the miraculous catch of fish, he brought his boat to shore, left everything behind, and followed Jesus.
But what if Peter had known where that decision would eventually lead?
Following Jesus would give Peter a front-row seat to miracles, transformation, and the Kingdom of God—but it wouldn't make his life easier. He would experience failure, fear, sacrifice, persecution, and eventually discover just how much following Jesus could cost.
In this message from Luke 5, we look at Peter's response to the call of Jesus and wrestle with what discipleship actually requires of us. Jesus never promised that following Him would remove hardship or guarantee a comfortable life. He called us to follow Him—and sometimes that road is costly.
Peter couldn't have known everything that waited on the other side of leaving those nets. He simply knew Jesus was worth following.
The question for us is the same: Will we follow Jesus when we don't know what it might cost?

What happens when Jesus doesn't fit the version of Him we've created?
In Luke 4, Jesus returns to His hometown of Nazareth and stands in the synagogue among people who had watched Him grow up. He reads from the prophet Isaiah and declares that the promised good news for the poor, freedom for the captive, sight for the blind, and liberation for the oppressed is being fulfilled in Him.
At first, the people marvel. But admiration quickly turns to anger when Jesus challenges their expectations and reminds them that God's grace has never been limited to the people who believe they deserve it most.
The same hometown that knew Jesus as Joseph's son struggled to recognize Him as the Messiah.
In this message, we explore the danger of becoming so familiar with Jesus that we stop allowing Him to challenge us. His Kingdom reaches beyond our expectations, our comfort, and the boundaries we sometimes create around who belongs.
Jesus came with good news—and sometimes receiving that good news requires us to let go of the Jesus we expected so we can follow the Jesus who actually is.

Good News for the Outsiders
From the very beginning of Jesus' story, God makes something clear about His Kingdom: the people the world overlooks are often the very people He chooses.
In Luke 2, God entrusts the birth of the Savior to a young woman of humble circumstances. Then, when Jesus is born, heaven doesn't announce His arrival first to kings, religious leaders, or the powerful. Angels appear in a field to ordinary shepherds with the news that would change the world: a Savior has been born.
In this message, we look at what these choices reveal about the heart of God. Jesus didn't simply come for the marginalized, the overlooked, and those who feel unworthy—God included them in His story from the very beginning.
If you've ever believed you're too broken, too ordinary, too insignificant, or too far outside the circle to be used by God, Luke's Gospel tells a different story.
The good news really is for you. And you may be exactly the kind of person God loves to use.

The Wait Is Not Wasted
What do you do when you've prayed, hoped, and waited—and nothing seems to change?
As we begin our journey through Luke and Acts, we start with Zechariah and Elizabeth: a faithful couple who had lived for years with an unanswered prayer. By the time an angel appeared to Zechariah, the answer they once longed for seemed impossible.
But God had not forgotten them.
In this message, we look at what their story teaches us about waiting, disappointment, and trusting God's timing. While Zechariah and Elizabeth saw years of silence, God was preparing something far greater than they could have imagined. Their personal answered prayer would become part of God's much bigger story of redemption.
Sometimes God's silence isn't His absence. Sometimes the waiting we don't understand is happening right in the middle of a story only He can see.
As Luke begins his account, we're reminded that God keeps His promises, hears our prayers, and is still working—even while we wait.

Trust doesn't begin with understanding our circumstances—it begins with knowing the character of God. In this message, we dive deeper into what it means to place our confidence in a God who is always faithful, always good, and always true to His Word.
When life doesn't make sense, it's easy to question God's plans. But throughout Scripture, we see that God's people learned to trust Him not because they had all the answers, but because they knew the One who was leading them. His character remained constant even when their circumstances changed.
Join us as we explore how God's unchanging nature becomes the anchor for our faith. As we grow in our understanding of who He is, we find the confidence to surrender our fears, trust His timing, and walk in obedience—even when we can't yet see the outcome.
Our faith is strengthened not by having every question answered, but by knowing the God who never changes.

Knowing God
Who is God? While many people know about Him, Scripture calls us to know Him personally. In this message, we explore the character and attributes of God, discovering how His nature shapes everything He says, does, and promises.
Together, we'll examine the qualities that make God who He is—His holiness, love, justice, mercy, faithfulness, sovereignty, wisdom, and unchanging nature. Because God's character never changes, we can trust Him completely in every season of life. What He has revealed about Himself in Scripture becomes the foundation for our faith, our worship, and our hope.
As we grow in our understanding of God's character, we're not simply gaining knowledge—we're being transformed. The more we behold who God is, the more we're shaped into the likeness of Christ and equipped to reflect His character to the world around us.

Even If
What does faith look like when God doesn't answer the way we hoped? Throughout Scripture, we find men and women whose confidence in God wasn't based on favorable circumstances but on His unchanging character. They trusted Him—even if.
